CultureRoad trippers nationwide are about to get a major upgrade to their pit stops. Buc-ee's, the Texas-born convenience superstore that has morphed into a full-blown cultural phenomenon, is gearing up for a massive expansion, bringing its unique brand of travel center to a host of new territories.
While earlier reports hinted at six new states, public statements and recent news confirm an even broader push. The company has plans to open its inaugural locations in at least seven, and potentially up to ten, new states by 2028. This ambitious rollout aims to extend the reach of its legendary clean bathrooms, extensive fuel pumps, and signature food offerings to millions more commuters and long-haul drivers across the country.

The expansion sequence kicked off with Ohio, where the first Buc-ee's location officially opened its doors in Huber Heights on April 6, 2026. Following close behind, Arizona is set to welcome a massive 74,000-square-foot store in Goodyear, strategically located near Interstate 10 and Bullard Avenue, with an anticipated opening date of June 22, 2026.
Arkansas is also seeing significant early development, with a Buc-ee's in Benton, situated near I-30 and State Highway 299, nearing completion for a summer 2026 or August/September 2026 debut. Not content with just one, a second Arkansas location is already projected for West Memphis, off I-40, targeting a June 2028 opening, further solidifying the brand's presence in the state.
Looking ahead to 2027, more new territories are on the map. Oak Creek, Wisconsin, is slated for a 73,370-square-foot superstore near I-94 and Elm Road, expected to open in early 2027. Louisiana will get its first Buc-ee's in Ruston, at the intersection of I-20 and Tarbutton Road, with a mid-2027 opening planned for the over 70,000-square-foot facility. Kansas City, Kansas, is also on the list for 2027, with a location anticipated near I-70 and West Village Parkway.

North Carolina's debut store is planned for Mebane, positioned off I-40 and I-85, also in 2027. Mississippi's first location is earmarked for Harrison County, near I-10 and Menge Avenue, with an expected opening in the same year. Even Florida, already home to several Buc-ee's, will see continued growth, including an impressive 80,000-square-foot store planned for St. Lucie County, off I-95 and Indrio Road, in 2027, which is expected to be the largest Buc-ee's in the Sunshine State.
Founded in 1982 by Arch "Beaver" Aplin III and Don Wasek, Buc-ee's has cultivated a reputation far beyond that of a typical convenience store. It's known for its exceptionally clean restrooms, a sprawling array of fuel pumps, and a diverse selection of fresh food. Travelers often rave about their brisket sandwiches, banana pudding, and the highly addictive signature Beaver Nuggets caramel corn puffs.
The convenience superstore chain, easily identifiable by its iconic beaver mascot, has garnered a cult-like following, with many describing it as a destination in itself rather than just a stop. Its business model thrives on high volume, competitive fuel prices, and a vast selection of unique merchandise, ranging from branded apparel to local gourmet foods, all while maintaining a consistent commitment to facility cleanliness, a cornerstone of its brand identity.
This aggressive expansion strategy is set to introduce the full Buc-ee's experience to millions more travelers across the nation. By planting flags in up to ten new states by 2028, Buc-ee's is not just growing its footprint; it's solidifying its status as a major player in the travel center industry and a significant cultural touchstone for road trippers everywhere.
