Porscha Coleman is dominating screens and sparking conversations with her role as Naomi in Tyler Perry's latest comedy-drama, "Divorced Sistas." The seasoned actress, known for her dynamic presence across television, film, and music, has found a character that allows her to unleash a truly unforgettable performance, drawing in viewers with a portrayal that is both raw and relatable.

"Divorced Sistas," a spin-off from BET's popular "Sistas" franchise, premiered on June 9, 2025, across BET, BET Her, and VH1, with streaming access becoming available on BET+ the following day. The initial eight-episode run saw new episodes released weekly on BET+, concluding its first half on July 24, 2025. The series made a significant move for its second half, dubbed Season 1B, when it began streaming exclusively on Paramount+ on April 15, 2026. This shift, announced by Tyler Perry himself on Facebook on April 7, 2026, aligned with BET+'s planned merger onto the Paramount+ service in June 2026. Coleman's character, Naomi, is described as a "high-strung, unapologetic, and a force of nature." Recently divorced, Naomi channels her lingering anger towards her ex-husband, Franklin, into a powerful, unyielding drive. Reports indicate that Naomi is financially secure from her divorce settlement but remains bitter, especially given her ex's new relationship with a white woman. Coleman characterized Naomi as a "loose cannon" with "no chill," a woman who is "very much of the breaking and entering kind of girl" when it comes to showing up unannounced, and noted her "sexually liberated" side. Naomi's journey through dating again is depicted as a "literal mess," offering a candid look at post-divorce life.

The series centers on five close friends—Rasheda, Geneva, Naomi, Tiffany, and Bridgette—as they navigate the intricate dance of life, love, divorce, marriage, and modern dating. Their reliance on each other through heartbreak and healing forms the core of the show, even as their loyalty and sisterhood face significant tests from within their own circle. Tyler Perry not only created, wrote, and directed the series but also serves as an executive producer, shaping the narrative of these women's lives.

Perry personally selected Coleman for the role of Naomi, a decision that came after she initially auditioned for a different character. Coleman recounted the pivotal moment, stating, "I did 30 seconds of my read and Tyler was like, 'You are not Tiffany. You are Naomi. Go back I'll read these sides. and come back in.' And that's what I did he said 'Oh my goodness. you the one. you the one.'" Coleman has expressed that taking on the role has been "amazing" and a "blessing," relishing the opportunity to portray a "crazy girl" who elicits strong reactions from viewers, making them either "love her or you hate her, but you're going to be like, she's a real one. You have to feel something for her." She also highlighted the demanding, fast-paced production environment at Tyler Perry Studios, which serves as a true test of an actor's capabilities.

The ensemble cast features a lineup of talented individuals, including LeToya Luckett as Rasheda, a first lady grappling with a struggling marriage to Pastor Jeff. Khadeen Indréa, also known as Khadeen Ellis, portrays Geneva, a powerhouse partner at a law firm navigating the complexities of motherhood and marital life. Briana Price takes on the role of Tiffany, a realtor and single mother rebuilding her life after a difficult divorce, while Jennifer Sears plays Bridgette, the compassionate and loyal assistant at God's Light Christian Church. Other notable cast members include RonReaco Lee as William, DeVon Franklin as Pastor Jeff, Donovan Christie Jr. as Franklin, Robert Christopher Riley as Javon, and Michael Bolwaire as Hakeem.

Coleman's career trajectory leading up to "Divorced Sistas" is extensive and varied. Her television credits span numerous popular shows, including "NYPD Blue," "Touched By an Angel," "The Parkers," "My Wife and Kids," "Boston Public," "Silicon Valley," and "All American: Homecoming." She also co-hosted "Hollywood Today Live" and held a main role as Chelsea Dixon in "Dad Stop Embarrassing Me!" alongside Jamie Foxx, who reportedly handpicked her for that part. Beyond acting, Coleman is a skilled singer, dancer, and TV host, with performances on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," and has released singles such as "Fire Body" and "Temptation." Her past correspondent roles include appearances on BET's "106 & Park" and "Spring Bling," as well as MTV's "Wild 'N Out."

Tyler Perry articulated the show's broader mission, stating, "Divorced Sistas is a story of resilience and the power of female friendship. It is my hope that audiences will fall in love with these dynamic characters, and that they will be able to explore their own personal truths about healing and love in the process." This series marks a significant milestone as the first to launch under Perry's expanded multiyear content partnership with BET Media Group, further cementing its importance within the media landscape. It is also the second spin-off from the successful "Sistas" franchise, following "Zatima."

The cultural impact of "Divorced Sistas" is undeniable, particularly in its exploration of female friendships and the diverse challenges women face in relationships and post-divorce life within the Black community. Coleman emphasized that the show distinguishes itself from the original "Sistas" by presenting a wide array of circumstances among its characters—some married, some divorced, and others in various "situationships"—allowing a broad spectrum of women to relate to the storylines. She noted that the series is "not necessarily the typical divorce thing" but rather highlights "sisterhood" and delivers a message that "our community needs to be reminded" of. The series has quickly achieved massive success, becoming BET+'s most-watched original series in the platform's history and driving record new subscriptions.

Coleman openly shared her excitement about the show's reception, stating, "I'm loving the fact that we're number one and people are all locked in." With such a strong debut and critical acclaim, the future looks bright for "Divorced Sistas," with Coleman expressing hopes for a well-deserved second season. The series continues to resonate deeply with audiences, affirming the power of storytelling that reflects real-life experiences and the enduring strength of female bonds.
